Stewart Ainsworth – “In 2018, I was commissioned to write an archaeological report for Time Team Digital on its investigations at Dunster, in Somerset. This report – Unearthing Dunster – involved collating records, finds and other material collected over a period of five years, was to be produced on a relatively short timescale, involved a number of contributors, and be a high quality publication sufficient to satisfy both professional and public readership. Without the organisational skills and her ability to research source material, as well as coordinate activities, arrange printing and organise payments amongst many other things, the report would not have been finished to the standard required. If three words summed up Penny on this project – they are energy, personality and efficiency.”

Tim Taylor – “We have worked with Penny for many years. She has a fantastic understanding of how archaeology and local history can work in communities and in particular, with schools. Her enthusiasm and professionalism have been an important part of our Dig Village project for many years.”

J Miller – Back in the 70’s I was given my uncle’s World War 1 medals for safe keeping. Well, the inevitable happened, and both uncle and auntie died. They didn’t have any children and I didn’t know of any other relatives that would still be alive. The medals have lain in my cupboards for all this time and no-one in my family seemed to want them. I just didn’t want them to get lost in the system, so I thought it would be good to give them to a museum, but not knowing about uncle and what regiment he served in, I didn’t know how to go about it. However, with what little information I did have, Penny came to the rescue. She found out what regiment he was in and where he was stationed during the war, his parent’s names brothers and sisters and where he was born. With all the information Penny found out, we were able to donate his medal to the Regimental Museum at Woodstock in Oxfordshire.

I can’t believe how much information Penny found out. I was very grateful that the medals will be on show for future generations to see.

Thank you very much Penny for a job well done!
